Camper Calling

24 - 27 August 2023

2022 Friday

Basement Jaxx (DJ Set)

Lakeside Stage

Undoubtedly one of the world’s most iconic dance acts, the legendary Basement Jaxx, double BRIT Award & GRAMMY winners & creators of countless hits including “Red Alert”; “Do Your Thing” & “Where’s Your Head At” bring their fire DJ set to the fields of Camper Calling.

Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon

Lakeside Stage

Down the dark, dark stairs, upon the bloody gallows of soft rock, through the oubliette of cheese, into the torture chamber of disco, you are welcomed to the Late Night Pop Dungeon.

The Grand High Executionatrix, dungeon mistress Charlotte Church, will be treating you to the greatest tunes that time forgot, and some that will forever haunt our collective memory. Bring your dancing shoes to the Lakeside Stage Friday night!

Charlotte Church (1912-3045) is regularly called a hippy, an accusation she vehemently rejects (despite being regularly spotted crocheting her own yoghurt in "those'' coffee shops and buying veg boxes from local farms in flares and a Mexican baja). Nobody has managed to convict her of an actual crime as of yet. This is puzzling to the readers of teen megazoins in which she has listed "bank heists" as a hobby since the floods of '98. She abhors whimsy of any kind and nurtures a glory of unicorns in the battlements of her higgledy-piggledy palace made from the toenails of toothfaeries. Yay!

Björn Again

Arrow Stage

The internationally acclaimed Australian Björn Again show joins the Camper Calling line up on Friday night!

Performing ABBA’s extensive list of hits, Björn Again is sure to have you in a disco mood with a rocked-up, light-hearted satirical show.
Be sure to don your flares, grab the glitter and dust off the dance moves, as you hear the much-loved ABBA repertoire performed the way only Björn Again does!

The Selecter

Lakeside Stage

We are incredibly excited to announce The Selecter will be performing Friday at Camper Calling!
Led by The Queen of Ska, Pauline Black and original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendricks, The Selecter are undoubtedly pioneers of the 2-Tone era. All the anarchic passion that fuelled Selecter gigs in the 80’s is still there, except the pair are even more driven. Expect explosive performances, politically engaged lyrics and purely uplifting records.
They don’t make legends like this anymore!

Stereotonics

Arrow Stage, Music Act

Since forming in mid 1999, Stereotonics fast became one of the UK's leading tribute bands.

With the same vocal style as Kelly Jones, lead singer, Paul, has fined tuned the sound of the band to make it as close to the real thing as possible.

Using the same guitars and wearing the same clothes, watching Stereotonics could almost be like watching the real Stereophonics!

Space Cowboy

Arrow Stage, Music Act

A funk filled, non stop anthem tribute to Jamiroquai, the amazing Space Cowboy will be landing at Camper Calling 2022. Bringing to life the music and hits you guys know and love, you’d be virtually insane to miss this one!

The Pale White

Lakeside Stage

In a musical landscape that continues to proudly proclaim the death of modern rock music, The Pale White have consistently proved that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Hailing from Newcastle in the UK, the three piece containing brothers Adam and Jack Hope and friend Tom Booth, have spent the last few years fanning the flames of a rapidly growing and loyal fan base. Breaking out of their home town with appearances at prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury Festival and Reading and Leeds, whispers of their energetic and impassioned live performances have began spreading across the UK and Europe, which has seen crowds fall for their thunderous and unapologetically anthemic take on rock music. Further bolstered by seal of approval support slots from modern rock figureheads such as Foals, Sam Fender, The Amazons, The Libertines and Twin Atlantic, it’s just a matter of time before a mainstream audience proclaims them their own. Teaming up with acclaimed producer Jolyon Thomas (Royal Blood, U2, Slaves), the bands anticipated debut album ‘Infinite Pleasure’ is set for release on April 23rd. The album includes latest singles “Take Your Time”, “Glue”, “Confession Box” and a rework of their 2016 demo “That Dress” which have seen the band usher in a new chapter.

Wille & The Bandits

Arrow Stage, Music Act

Essentially Wille and the Bandits is a classic blues rock band much in the vein of Cream or The Jimi Hendrix experience. But in a similar way to how these bands pushed the genre in their time, Wille and the Bandits try to take their sound beyond what is expected of such a traditional line up.

The use of more bizarre instrumentation and eclectic influences in the song writing often pushes them more into a world music or progressive category. Having toured with artists such as Deep Purple through to the John Butler trio and played major festivals across Europe, the band seem to leave an equally astounding impression on audiences of all ages and musical backgrounds with their energetic and soulful performances.

Captain Accident

Music Act, Arrow Stage

Captain Accident is a reggae/ska/soul artist who creates a unique blend of rock-driven soulful roots reggae, ska, dub and rocksteady at his home studio in Cardiff. This sound is then brought to life on stage with the help of a collective of the finest musicians for an energetic live show guaranteed to get people up dancing. With soulful vocals, soaring twin guitars and a truly infectious groove, there’s no standing still when Captain Accident and his clumsy companions hit the stage.

Uncle Funk's Disco Inferno

Lakeside Stage, Music Act

Get ready to feel the party and feel the burn!
The most explosive disco Band, Uncle Funk’s DIsco Inferno join us at Camper Calling. Sure to get you in a spin playing a winning set of disco classics and modern dance bangers! Every song in the set has been chosen with the dance-floor in mind – nothing indulgent, nothing obscure, just the hits!

The Institutes

Arrow Stage, Music Act

The Institutes have wasted no time in becoming national radio’s favourite new Indie rock band, with support from BBC Radio 6 and Radio X catapulting them into the ears of music fans across the country. Formed in Coventry in 2018, this four-piece got to defining their sound in time for recording two sets worth of huge tracks, most of which you might hear The Institutes play on their US tour in 2021.

Sounding somewhere between New Order, The La ‘s and 80s band The Primitives, they bring along a much needed pick me up to these dark days.

Recalling to some extent the euphoric rush of The Las, the heartbeat of The Stone Roses and the melodies of The Lightning Seeds this is a band that relies on songs and they have a massive arsenal of killer tunes.

Mellowmatic

Lakeside Stage, Music Act

Fronted by female and male lead vocalists and rappers, with keys, synths and sax, delivering infectious bop through to tasty grooves and breaks. Mellowmatic bring a live set engineered to rock any stage, and take their audience on an eclectic musical journey via Boombap 90’s to present day. Executing a tight musical performance, on point every time, this big-sound-high-energy band is made to be seen and heard.

Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun

Arrow Stage, Music Act

All the way from New Brunswick, Canada we welcome Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun!
If you love a high energy, highly danceable, extremely engaging, flat out unforgettable show then look no further. Get ready to sing, sweat, and dance with Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun!

The Novus

Lakeside Stage, Music Act

Legends around these parts, if you caught The Novus last year, you know you’re in for a treat!
Art-Punk band - The Novus are their own breed of excitement.

Born and raised in the Black Country & Birmingham, they live at the heart of what was once the industrial revolution. No strangers to crafting themselves, The Novus have created and defined a genre all of their own - combining all the finest aspects of their favourite music they have concocted a political psychedelia & art punk like never before. And supplying a somewhat nostalgic yet unfamiliar image with unrivalled hair and eye makeup. Battling the stereotypes of masculinity and prejudice towards their fellow ‘lefty snowflakes’. A voice for millennials, by millennials.

DJ Yuki

Lakeside Stage

Already gaining multiple Spotify playlist covers and editorial support, London based female DJ/Producer, YUKI adds to her international DJ success releasing her debut singles including ‘Weekend Love’ with Dante Klein and Laura Davie(House Gospel Choir)and a 2022 remake of Ciara classic ‘Goodies’ with production duo FUSE this year. She’ll be kicking off the main stage at Camper Calling 2022 on Friday.

Mr. Wilson's Second Liners

Music Act, Lakeside Stage

New Orleans meets 90s club classics!

A rabble of mischievous northerners, Mr Wilson’s Second Liners form a traditional New Orleans Second Line. However, this is no sombre occasion: Mr Wilson’s expend their collective musical talent paying homage to the diehard days of the Hacienda, 90s club culture and its greatest hero, Mr Tony Wilson.

These revolutionary genre bashers knock the First Line sideways, opting for upbeat dance tracks over traditional slow hymns. Proudly stepping out in uniformed style, they channel the spirit of the 24 hour party people and get audiences dancing wherever they play.

The vision is an anarchic, street extravaganza, bursting with colour and sound, rallying impromptu raves on street corners and rousing audiences young and old into a joyful frenzy.

PARADE KICKS OFF 16:00 FROM THE ARROW STAGE
AND AGAIN AT 18:30 FROM LAKESIDE STAGE

Zkeletonz

Arrow Stage

Described by Louder Than War as "a very seductive groove”, Zkeletonz were recently voted ‘Fresh Faves’ by BBC 6Music Listeners at Tom Robinson’s blog, who said the trio: “sound like disco never died, but rather flew away on a spaceship, and has now returned to take over the world.”

In 2022 their new 'IMPROVE YOUR GROOVE' E.P. has kicked off with 'Abracababra', a contagious, magic-themed pop song influenced by early 1980s electro-funk and as usual self-produced by the band themselves, who will also soon perform live at multiple major festivals in the UK, Malta and Ibiza.

This follows the 'Apocalypse Wow' E.P. by Zkeletonz which racked up 100,000 streams on Spotify with no label or management support, and previous festival appearances at All Points East, Alex James's Feastival, and 110 Above, alongside artists like Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Foals and Jamie XX.
